IDEAS FOR PRACTICING SPANISH THROUGH THE SUMMER
Summer time is a long time for Middle and High school students to go without practicing Spanish. The saying, "you lose it if you don't use it," is very true! Here are some ideas to keep practicing over the summer months!

1. Attend CharMeck Library story times in Spanish - they are for little kids, but just as fun! Check website for locations and times:
http://www.cmlibrary.org/programs/

2. While at the library - check out children's story books in Spanish and start reading! Reading kids' books in Spanish is the best way to become more familiar with spelling and vocabulary, for example.

3. Watch DVDs - movies you already know, but set the language audio and the subtitles to Spanish. It's fun and soon enough, you'll forget you are watching in Spanish!

4. Label the house (bedroom, bathroom, kitchen) in Spanish. Sticky notes go a long way and this helps boost vocabulary when you see it everyday for the summer! Use wordreference.com to help in finding the right word.

5. Youtube! A great resource for lessons and short videos for early language learners. 'Pocoyo en español' & Little Einsteins episodes in Spanish are my favorite for listening comprehension - the pace is slow and the vocabulary is beginning level + it's very entertaining. "Tontito Frito" is my favorite channel for further explanation in grammar lessons.

6. DUOLINGO - the app (or the website) gets rave reviews by students of all ages!

7. Keep up with grammar you've already learned:
